From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of heroes, and a thrilling plot including celestial beings, evil spirits, and dark forces growing in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Spoilers for the latest installment of this adventure lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
Episode 3 ended with a major cliffhanger and revealed the initial group of adventurers who will branch out from the main group to begin their separate journey, separate from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team features Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis), the agile character (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
Given an extensive roster, it was obvious from the beginning that keeping everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
Hence, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Overture, connecting the individual narratives before dividing into three smaller tables: Warriors, Schemers, and Questers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for adventurers who are drawn to a traditionally charged battle-oriented gameplay experience where diplomatic options are few and far between.
Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might seem out of place, but the events of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
First, the team has a clear idea where to head next after a intense initial meeting with the enemy group.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose death initiated the story’s plot—manipulated the foes for his personal gain, entering the hidden lair, striking the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to sell off.
The traitor then paid off his obligations and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, north of the city, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each adventurer has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the companion and closest confidant, wants retribution.
- The adventurer knows the northern area and advises that it is a nasty place.
- The warrior and The cleric, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate Teor and instead saved him, have no other options.
- Yet, their reputation as important members in the powerful family could assist the group access places they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character swore a life debt to Wicander for his salvation and will now go with him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are hunted by the powers that govern the setting for a range of causes, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The rogue and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The healer turned against House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- Teor is marked for death by House Halovar.
This leaves them no alternative but to journey toward the northern region in search of Casimir.
What’s Next?
According to episode three’s Cooldown, we learn that the warrior group will not appear next week, leaving the rest of the cast members to round up the Questers and Strategists tables.
Audiences can expect discovering which characters will be in which group in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, released on the upcoming Thursday.
